Henry Acres
Henry's role
Henry is a civil servant leading on response and resilience in social care at the Scottish Government. Prior to this he has worked on drugs policy, with a focus on justice, drug law reform and stigma. He previously headed up the secretariat for the Scottish Drug Deaths Taskforce and is currently the Vice Chair for the community interest company Paw for Progress.
Background
Henry has a background in justice, risk and resilience. Following a criminology degree at Durham University, where he worked as a police support volunteer in Durham Police Constabulary and took part in the first UK ‘Inside-Out’ Programme. He has also held roles at The State Hospital and Scottish Prison Service.
He is passionate about equality and diversity as a former member of the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s Project 1000, RNIB Scotland volunteer and from his work with the Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living. He is a current FDA union rep and champions diversity and inclusion in the Scottish Government through a range of corporate projects.
