Statement on Revision of the Community Justice Performance Framework
CJS is required under s18 of the Community Justice (Scotland) Act 2016 to publish a statement on whether there is a need to revise the Community Justice Performance Framework (CJPF).
The CJPF was published by Government in March 2023 and was available for national reporting purposes in CJS’s recent Outcome Activity Annual Report covering the period 23/24 and in the reports on local performance issued to local partners in November 2024. In our view the CJPF should be given an opportunity to further embed.
The CJPF reflects the priority actions and outcomes of the National Strategy for Community Justice. For the most part it contains underpinning indicators/national data sources to inform reporting by CJS and local partners under various duties in the Community Justice (Scotland) Act 2016.
There is work ongoing as part of the National Strategy Delivery Plan to enhance the indicator data underpinning the CJPF on a systematic and priority basis to address continuing data gaps.
CJS holds the view that the most appropriate time to consider whether a revision of the CJPF is required would be following any changes to the National Strategy, and/or following any substantive developments in the data landscape.
CJS has concluded that there is no need to revise the CJPF at this time and having consulted with partners and stakeholders have published this statement in compliance with s18 of the Act.
