Not Guilty plea
An individual might plead not guilty. Where this is the case, a trial date is set. The prosecution and defence organise their case, witnesses and evidence and must communicate with each other before the preliminary hearing or first diet.

At this stage in the justice system, there may be an opportunity to support an individual to tackle the underlying causes of crime and improve future outcomes.
