Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal (COPFS) mark cases
When a case is received, Procurators Fiscal review and mark the case to decide on how it should progress.
A Procurator Fiscal is “a legally qualified civil servant who receives reports about crimes from the police and others and then decides what action to take in the public interest, including whether to prosecute someone. They also look into deaths that need further explanation and investigate allegations of criminal conduct against police officers”
